Roseanne Rostock grew up near Wilkes-Barre, PA. She went to college at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA, where she earned a BS in physics with a minor in science journalism, dabbled in theatre and wrote and edited for the student newspaper. Through NSF's Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program, Roseanne worked for two summers on research projects in semiconductors and polymer physics. After college, she wrote for Science World, a middle school classroom magazine, in New York City.

Roseanne earned her MAT in science education from Boston University. She taught high school physics for five years in the Boston Public Schools, and also coordinated her school's chapter of the Massachusetts Pre-Engineering Program, an after-school engineering club. Roseanne was deeply involved in her high school's whole-school restructuring process as it transitioned from a large general high school to five smaller school-to-career pathways. As a teacher-facilitator for the Business and Technology Pathway, she worked with a small cluster of teachers to focus instruction on state standards and implement writing across the curriculum.

In 2000, Roseanne left Boston to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Naga City, Philippines, where she worked with science and English teachers from six high schools and 23 elementary schools. Her work focused on methods for encouraging students' critical thinking skills, and improving content knowledge for physics teachers. Roseanne also worked with English teachers to improve English fluency, and developed curriculum materials that integrated environmental education into the Philippines high school English curriculum.

After returning home, Roseanne taught math and physics at a small charter high school in Philadelphia, where she developed the physics curriculum, introduced a physics-first model for 9th grade and developed a math SAT-prep program. Roseanne left the classroom in 2005 to become a program officer in science at KSTF, where she is part of the team that is responsible for guiding the KSTF fellows in becoming professional high school science teachers. Roseanne is a member of the National Science Teachers' Association, the Pennsylvania Science Teachers' Association, and the National Peace Corps Association. She can be reached at rrostock@kstf.org.
