Eric Robinson, PhD

Dr. Eric Robinson earned a PhD in mathematics from Binghamton University in 1975. He is an associate professor in mathematics at Ithaca College, and the director of COMPASS--a national secondary mathematics implementation center funded, in part, by NSF. His field of published mathematical research is topology. After receiving his doctorate, he taught at Bates College prior to joining the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Ithaca College, 1979. He has served as interim associate dean of the School of Humanities and Science and chaired the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. In addition to his responsibilities at Ithaca, Dr. Robinson has also frequently taught preservice graduate-level content courses in mathematics in the master of arts in teaching program at Binghamton. He served as a program officer at the U.S. National Science Foundation in the Division of Elementary, Secondary and Informal Education, and was a member of the National Academies Committee on Attracting Science and Mathematics PhDs to K-12 Education.
