Physics Teacher/Dean for Students/Team 3 Specialist
With more than 35 years in the classroom, Steve has taught every high school science course except biology and every high school mathematics course except calculus. Currently, in addition to teaching physics halftime, he serves halftime as a Dean of Students in grades 11 and 12. A long-time Nordic ski coach for both the male and female teams at his school, Steve has led his teams to over 20 State Championships. Steve works extensively with his school’s professional learning communities and strongly believes in the importance of teacher leadership.
Steve holds a B.S. in chemical engineering and an M.Ed. in counselor education from the University of Maine. Having displayed the characteristics identified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards as critically important to the advancement of student achievement, Steve became a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) in 2002. Steve applied for and received his renewal as a NBCT in 2012. In 2005, he received the nation’s highest honor for teachers of mathematics and science—the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.
