Science Teacher/Program Manager/Team 2 Specialist
In addition to teaching biology and honors anatomy and physiology at Arroyo High School, Jim is employed as a program manager at the Academy of Health and Medicine, a small learning community within the San Lorenzo Unified School District. He also works collaboratively with the Graduate School of Education at the University of California, Berkeley on the topic of student transfer. Throughout the course of his career in education, Jim has served as a department chair, a curriculum specialist for secondary science and a professional development coordinator for small learning communities. In 2008, he was recognized as the Alameda County Teacher of the Year.
Jim has shared his expertise related to building interactive classrooms and writing effective multiple choice exams at conferences sponsored by the National Science Teacher Association (NSTA) and the National Biology Teacher Association (NBTA). He has given multiple presentations within his district and is a published author.
A graduate of San Diego State University, Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in biology and kinesiology.
