Application and Selection

How does the selection process work?
The selection process takes place in three rounds. Online application materials, letters of recommendation and transcripts are reviewed first by KSTF staff. Those applicants who minimally meet the selection criteria are invited to participate in a telephone interview conducted by a senior KSTF staff member. From the telephone interviews, finalists are invited for personal, face-to-face interviews in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with members of the KSTF Advisory Committees, KSTF staff, members of the Board of Trustees, and the KSTF founders, Mr. and Mrs. Knowles. Finalist interviews are conducted in March, and all travel expenses to and from the interview are covered by KSTF (see the complete selection timeline.)

When will I know if I've been accepted?
Fellowship awardees will be announced in April each year, and successful candidates must be available for an orientation meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, held over the first weekend in June.

Can I defer my acceptance?
No. Unfortunately, if you are unable to accept a teaching fellowship for any reason, you must reapply the following year.
