Lawrence Tint Member, Board of Trustees Knowles Science Teaching Foundation

Lawrence Tint joined the KSTF Board of Trustees in June 2008.  As Senior Managing Director of Cantor Fitzgerald LLP, a position he assumed in 2006, and President of Cantor Comparative Advantage, Mr. Tint directs the development of new investment products for Cantor Fitzgerald.   Mr. Tint is concurrently chairman of Quantal International, a Berkeley, California-based provider of leading risk analysis tools and investment management products. 

Before joining Quantal, Mr. Tint was CEO of StraightThrough, Inc., a financial services firm delivering B-2-B data processing and business process outsourcing services to financial service companies.  Prior to his tenure at StraightThrough, Mr. Tint was Vice Chairman, Managing Director and Member of the Management Committee of Barclays Global Investors (BGI).  At BGI, Mr. Tint was responsible for managing all client-facing activity as well as global coordination of BGI's extensive fund activities.  

Before joining BGI, Mr. Tint served as President of Sharpe-Tint, Inc., an investment management and consulting company specializing in asset allocation for large institutional investors.  Mr. Tint formed the company with the Nobel Prize-winning economist William F. Sharpe.  Mr. Tint’s previous experience includes management positions at Trust Company of the West, Wilshire Associates and Wells Fargo Investment Advisors. He started his career at Merrill Lynch as Vice President and Manager of investment performance analysis where he designed a product to evaluate investment manager performance. The product was successfully sold to some 800 institutional clients.

Mr. Tint holds a B.A. in economics from Haverford College, and an M.B.A. in finance and operations research from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Tint is a member of the Haverford College Board of Managers, and chairs the Haverford College Finance Committee. He is also a member of the Claremont College Master of Financial Engineering Board.
